Athletic Therapy

Not many people know just what an Athletic Therapist can do and assume that they work just with athletes as they are often seen on the sidelines at sporting events. Maverick Therapy is excited to share just what a Certified Athletic Therapist – CAT (C) – can do.

An Athletic Therapist’s scope of practice includes: injury prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions (muscles, ligaments, bones, joints), and emergency care. Athletic Therapy is not just for the athlete but any individual who wants to return to work, play, and fun. Whether you play competitive or recreational sports; love working out; enjoy a good walk or hike on a beautiful day; going for a fun bike ride along the trails; gardening, building, or working with your hands; or just want to be able keep moving – Athletic Therapy is for you!

An Athletic Therapist treats a variety of patients, from youth to senior, for whatever condition keeps them from getting to do what they love. This is achieved through assessment and rehabilitation programs that can involve manual therapies, exercise prescription, modalities, and supportive techniques like taping and bracing. The main goal is to help the individual return to what they love to do. And last, but not least, an Athletic Therapist works a variety of sporting events to help ensure the safety of the athletes by providing emergency care, assessing and making quick return-to- play decisions, and providing preventative wrapping and taping to help an athlete get back to their sport safely.

If you have any aches or pains and want to get back to what you love, book with Maverick Therapy today and let us get you moving!
